Rid village Orchad in the region of Rushan.
In April 2019, the public organization "Jurat" set up a garden on an area of 1 hectare of previously empty and unused land.
Preliminary work was carried out to clean up the site from bushes, stones, all kinds of waste and debris and the territory is fenced with a metal mesh now.

“Jur’at”  used seedlings of local high-yielding varieties of fruits and other fruit trees. In addition 540 seedlings were purchased from other regions of Tajikistan, which normally adapt and grow well in local conditions.

The planted trees such as: cherries, apples, pears, plums, mulberry trees and others have already adopted very well in the new place.
The growth and development of the planted trees gives hope, that in the near future, the garden will provide the desired, environmentally friendly horticultural products for locals. The implementation of this project aims to contribute to the solution of one of the strategic problems in the region,  to provide  food independence for locals.

It is worth mentioning, that all the inhabitants of the village of Rid are displaced people, who have lost their homes as a result of a huge mudflow.
Therefore, the harvest of the new garden will become a basic support in their everyday life.
Fruits are used fresh, dried and  canned. In the future, it is planned to create a small enterprise for the primary processing of the garden crop and sending it to consumers and interested customers.
